Personal Development Books I Love

Many of us are conditioned to complete education and look for a job and that’s it, the rest of it is mainly learning on the job and taking courses closely related to the job.

But the important thing I found that can really expand the human thoughts, ideas and vision is continuous learning and reading lots of business and personal development books for personal growth.

Successful people read at least two books a month.  There is just so much to learn from all these wonderful literature and it opens up to a lot of ideas, problem solving and even finding new opportunity.

Here are some business and personal development books that I really love in areas of entrepreneurship, leadership, business and mindset.

With technology, it has opened up to many opportunities beyond your imagination and this book is a very practical book that help you map out your journey towards finding yourself, your desired life and a blueprint to help you achieve a life you truly want.

Even if you take in only 10 percent of the information and ideas and act on it, it will change your life.  Check out the preview available at Amazon if you have not read this book.

The author, Jesse Krieger, interviewed a few other lifestyle entrepreneurs and I am so glad that I have met one of them during an event here in Singapore.

One of best among all other personal development books is by Dr Marshall Goldsmith, “What Got You Here Won’t Get You There”.  He is an executive coach to the corporate elite and having written and edited over 30 books, this book is the basic reboot (that’s what I love to call it) for great personal growth.

It outlines 20 bad habits that stifle growth for the highly successful corporate executives but all the elements discussed is also very relevant on the personal front – family, marriage and friends.

One of the point he raised was “Stop being so YOU“, which is the fundamental in all aspects of personal growth.

Definitely one of my favourite personal development books.  This is a great book to start with before you get on to other books.

This is another amazing business book where it shows great business ideas in the past may not be so right now.

Driven mainly by technology, how businesses are conducted have also changed.  So, what exactly is platform revolution?  It defines the business model behind it, the power of such platform which allows to a certain extent of shared economy and outlines key principles for designing a successful platform.

This new model has a great potential of industry disruption but runs the risk of abuse as it grows bigger.  In this book, the author covers how to handle such risks and how regulation plays an important part in such business models.

A great business is not enough, look beyond that and see the model that is running at greater success.  Check out this book!

Tim Ferriss’ orgininal “The 4-Hour Workweek” is an eye opener to a new way of earning a living, working less for more.  This is an expanded and updated version includes more than 50 practical tips and case studies from readers by reinventing their lifestyle using the first original edition.

This book empowers individuals who are looking to make a change in their lives for the better.

It covers how to trade a long-haul career for short work bursts and frequent “mini-retirements” along the journey.

This book will change your life if you apply what you learn.

Here are the other recommended books that I personally like,
